We consider first order quasilinear hyperbolic systems with vertical characteristics. It was shown in [4] that such systems can be exactly controllable with the help of internal controls applied to the equations corresponding to zero eigenvalues. However, it is possible that, for physical or engineering reasons, we can not put any control on the equations corresponding to zero eigenvalues. In this paper, we will establish the exact controllability only by means of physically meaningfnl internal controls applied to the equations corresponding to non-zero eigenvalues. We consider a control-constrained parabolic optimal control problem without Tikhonov term in the tracking functional.For the numerical treatment,we use variational discretization of its Tikhonov regularization:For the state and the adjoint equation,we apply Petrov-Galerkin schemes in time and usual conforming finite elements in space.We prove a-priori estimates for the error between the discretized regularized problem and the limit problem.Since these estimates are not robust if the regularization parameter tends to zero,we establish robust estimates,which--depending on the problem's regularity——enhance the previous ones.In the special case of bang-bang solutions,these estimates are further improved.A numerical example confirms our analytical findings. 相似文献

We consider a mathematical model for the control of the growth of tumor cells which is formulated as a problem of optimal control theory. It is concerned with chemotherapeutic treatment of cancer and aims at the minimization of the size of the tumor at the end of a certain time interval of treatment with a limited amount of drugs. The treatment is controlled by the dosis of drugs that is administered per time unit for which also a limit is prescribed. It is shown that optimal controls are of bang-bang type and can be chosen at the upper limit, if the total amount of drugs is large enough. 相似文献

Accurate measurements of all the state variables of a given system are often not available due to the high cost of sensors, the lack of space to mount the transducers or the hostile environment in which the sensors must be located. The purpose of this study was to design a robust sliding mode observer that is capable of accurately estimating the state variables of the system in the presence of disturbances and model uncertainties. It should be emphasized that the proposed observer design can handle state equations expressed in the general form. The performance of the nonlinear observer is assessed herein by examining its capability of predicting the rigid and flexible motions of a compliant beam that is connected to a revolute joint. The simulation results demonstrate the ability of the observer in accurately estimating the state variables of the system in the presence of structured uncertainties and under different initial conditions between the observer and the plant. Moreover, they illustrate the deterioration in the performance of the observer when subjected to unstructured uncertainties of the system. Furthermore, the nonlinear observer was successfully implemented to provide on-line estimates of the state variables for two model-based controllers. The simulation results show minimal deterioration in the closed-loop response of the system stemming from the usage of estimated rather than exact state variables in the computation of the control signals.Contributed by Professor R. The linear problem of the time-dependent inviscid flow past a thin symmetric airfoil with a control on its trailing edge deflected in accordance with an arbitrary law is considered. The aerodynamic loads on the airfoil are calculated. The intensity of the vortex wake shed from the airfoil is determined by numerically solving a Volterra integral equation of the first kind. Questions of the mathematical modeling of the time-dependent aerodynamic loads in a form convenient for the joint solution of the problems of aerodynamics and flight dynamics are also considered. In this paper, we consider a class of optimal control problems with control and terminal inequality constraints, where the system dynamics is governed by a linear second-order parabolic partial differential equation with first boundary condition. A feasible direction algorithm for solving this class of optimal control problems has already been obtained in the literature.
